Description
As part of its support for the development of Jordan’s cultural heritage institutions, USAID SCHEP supported a series of intensive workshops to help draft the new Archaeological Heritage Strategy for Jordan. On September 11 and 12, 2019, forty representatives of the Department of Antiquities, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Wadi Rum Protected Area, and Petra Development & Tourism Regional Authority met alongside ACOR and USAID SCHEP team members to discuss the Strategy’s first pillar: Enabling Environment. This pillar focuses on strengthening the effective management of Jordan’s cultural heritage resources through institutional development, legislative reform, partnerships, and community engagement.
