Approximately 70 people joined our team on Monday, November 29th, to celebrate the closing ceremony of the “Mallol” project for the purpose of promoting and preserving the intangible heritage in Jarash. The training program over the last six months collected 17 folk songs and guided the youth in memorizing the lyrics and the cultural significance that binds generations.
The ceremony consisted of 15 well-trained youth from Jarash that performed 4 folk songs for the attendees. This included dancing and traditional musical instruments.
Jarash was the first place for the local community to transmit their Jordanian folk songs from the memory of the elderly to the younger generation within the “Mallol” project. The project was initiated by the Tajalla for Music and Arts Society in partnership with the Politics and Society Institutee. ACOR - The American Center of Research funded "Mallol" through USAID SCHEP.
